You can engage a Funeral Director to help you with the following after obtaining CCOD:
- Collecting the body from home/hospital mortuary
- Sending the body for embalming (if required), and
- Delivering the body to the location of the wake
There are many types of Funeral Ceremonial Rites depending on individual religion, thus the costs may vary. A funeral can be simple or it can be detailed based on the wishes of the deceased or the family. The Funeral Director will advise and assist the family through these processes.
Firstly, the family would have to decide on the location of the wake. There may be permissions required depending on the wake location. The most common area for holding funeral wakes are HDB void decks. Families may also choose to hold it at a funeral parlour.
If holding the wake at a funeral parlour is the preferred choice, speak to a Funeral Director. He will be able to advise you on the location and the availability of the parlour.
